This was one of the most dominating performances ever by a team at a World Championships. The six Soviet team members (Yelena Davydova, Olga Bicherova, Maria Filatova, Stella Zakharova, Yelena Polevaya, and Natalia Ilienko) incredibly finished 1-6 in the team competition, and five of the six qualified for AND medaled in individual event finals. In fact were it not for per country limits, all six would have competed in Event Finals! Truly an historic achievement! In this video, we explore the lore of this monumental team and performance, including a closer look at then-reigning Olympic all-around champion Elena Davydova's bars and floor routines from Finals!
