Building for Tomorrow chronicles three years of transformation at the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) under the leadership of its Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu (‪@kshalilu‬ ) Appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in September 2023, KSH assumed leadership with a mandate to reposition NASENI as Nigeria’s primary technology-transfer agency, transforming research and ideas into products, industries, jobs and measurable economic value. Guided by the philosophy of Creation, Collaboration and Commercialisation — the 3Cs — NASENI has undergone far-reaching institutional reforms while expanding its footprint across strategic sectors of the Nigerian economy. In three years, the Agency has: Developed over 40 market-ready products and solutions across renewable energy, agriculture, mobility, manufacturing, consumer technology and other sectors. Built an investment pipeline of approximately $3.25 billion through local and international partnerships and technology-transfer initiatives. Advanced local manufacturing of solar modules, inverters, batteries and other renewable-energy solutions, supporting Nigeria’s transition towards greater energy security. Expanded into healthcare manufacturing, including local production capabilities for in-vitro diagnostics and rapid diagnostic test kits. Advanced CNG and electric mobility technologies, while developing Nigerian engineering capacity for cleaner transportation. Launched the Asset Restoration Project, designed to restore thousands of dormant public assets, machinery and equipment to productive use. Taken innovation nationwide through InnovateNaija, identifying, funding and supporting Nigerian innovators across the 36 states and the FCT. Expanded opportunities for women in engineering and technology through DELT-Her, backing women-led ideas with funding and pathways towards commercialisation. Deepened international research and technology partnerships through DELTA-2 and strategic collaborations with global technology and manufacturing partners. Taken technology directly to Nigerians through the NASENI Sustainable Empowerment Programme (NSEP) — combining skills, tools and NASENI-developed solutions to support livelihoods and economic opportunity. Behind these achievements is another transformation: NASENI itself. From institutional reforms and digitalisation to stronger partnerships, human-capital development and a renewed emphasis on commercial outcomes, the Agency is evolving from an institution primarily associated with research into one increasingly focused on translating knowledge into products, factories and impact.
