“Mum, I can’t choose. Every moment I worked on it is really important to me.” Leon has been playing Kerbal Space Program for about seven months now. During that time, he has spent almost every day learning new features, studying how orbits work, and experimenting with different ways to build and fly his rockets. And finally, he made it into lunar orbit. 🚀🌕 Landing on the Moon, however, was not easy. After several failed attempts and a lot of trial and error, Leon finally managed to land safely on the lunar surface. From developing the rocket to launch, entering orbit, and attempting the Moon landing, the whole process took around three to four hours over two days. Before I started editing the footage, I asked Leon: “Leon, which parts are the most important? Tell me, and I’ll speed up the rest when I edit the video.” Then Leon said something that sounded almost like a little life lesson: “Mum, I can’t choose. Every moment I worked on it is really important to me.” After hearing that, it became much harder for me to simply cut parts of the journey out. Of course, the moment he finally landed on the Moon was important. But to Leon, the failures, the repeated attempts, learning about orbits, making adjustments to his rocket, and figuring things out along the way were just as important as the final success. So this video isn’t just about successfully landing on the Moon. It’s a small record of the learning, thinking, failing, experimenting, and persistence that have been part of Leon’s journey over the past seven months. For Leon, the journey was just as important as the landing.
