Community workers are often the first point of contact for older people experiencing abuse, neglect or mistreatment. This session will help you confidently recognise and respond to potential signs of elder abuse, understand the impact for the older person and connect people with the right support before the abuse escalates. Elder abuse affects an estimated 1 in 6 older Australians, yet many cases go unreported. It can take many forms, including financial abuse, psychological abuse, coercive control, neglect, social isolation, and the misuse of powers of attorney. This free one-hour online training is designed for community workers and frontline staff who work with older people. The session will help you build the knowledge and confidence to: ✅ recognise common signs and indicators of elder abuse ✅ respond appropriately and safely when concerns are identified ✅ connect older people with free support and legal services when they need them. Thanks to Seniors Rights Victoria Education Co-Ordinator Gary Ferguson for being our guest presenter.
