Why did this E30 master cylinder fail immediately?

The entire hydraulic clutch system in this E30 had been replaced so we weren’t thrilled when we found that the new master cylinder wasn’t working properly. Truth be told, we did order this master cylinder almost 10 years ago, so age could be a factor. We did however find other cases online of E30 clutch masters failing. One case mentioned that the fluid coming from the cylinder had become blackened so we knew that we had to dig deeper. As you’ll see in the video, the parts were not as factory fresh as they should have been. The repair process was simple though, and can be applied to other hydraulic components in your E30!
