Salisbury Steak Patties
Ingredients
2 lbs ground beef, preferably 80/20
1/2 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
1 large egg
1/3 cup finely diced or grated onion
2 tbsp ketchup
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp Dijon mustard
1 tsp beef bouillon powder
1 1/2 tsp Cooking With Tammy All-Purpose Seasoning
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp oil, for searing
2 tbsp heavy cream
Rich Onion Gravy
3 tbsp butter
1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
8 oz mushrooms, sliced, optional
3 cloves garlic, minced
3 tbsp all-purpose flour
3 cups beef broth
1 tsp beef bouillon
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp Cooking With Tammy All-Purpose Seasoning, or to taste
1/2 cup heavy cream
1 tbsp fresh chopped parsley for garnish
1. Sear for approximately 3–4 minutes per side until beautifully browned. They don't have to be completely cooked through yet.
Transfer them to a plate. Reduce heat to medium. Add butter and sliced onions. Cook for about 6–8 minutes, stirring occasionally, until softened and beginning to caramelize.
2. If you're using mushrooms, add them and cook another 4–5 minutes.
3. Add garlic and sauté about 30 seconds. Sprinkle flour over everything and stir continuously for about 1–2 minutes to cook away the raw flour taste.
4. Slowly pour in the beef broth while whisking or stirring.
Add: Beef bouillon, Worcestershire, Dijon, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, CWT seasoning. Allow the gravy to simmer until it begins thickening. Stir in the 1/2 cup heavy cream.
5. Return the Salisbury steaks and any juices from the plate to the skillet. Spoon that gravy over the steaks. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for approximately 12–15 minutes, or until the patties reach 160°F internally. Finish with fresh parsley.
Tip: If the gravy gets too thick, add a splash of beef broth.
Tip: If it's too thin, remove the lid and simmer for a few additional minutes.
