"I thought I could make her care, but I couldn't." _________________________________________ trigger warning: this novel/movie is beyond problematic. We've got r*cism, we've got marital r*pe, we've got confederate alogism/romanticization, we've got dead children (less problematic and more soul crushing). To pretend this novel/movie does not have those themes is literally denying its existence. With all of that in mind, Nina Dobrev would play the absolute shit out of this role. I would love to see a re-make of this without the confederate apologism. To have the main character -- who lived her entire life as a racist southern belle -- detach from that brainwashing while simultaneously trying to survive. That would be 10x more interesting than a movie that never reflects on the historical backdrop of the love square, that brushes it under the rug, and really only mentions slavery once or twice. My own personal ending is that Scarlett finally recognizes her feelings for Melanie & they run off together into the sunset (while also simultaneously recognizing that slavery is wrong, and the freed slaves that still work for them are solely there bc of Stockholm Syndrome, but ANYWAY -- ) I keep coming back to this movie/novel. I don't know why. It's so f'd. Everyone dies or ends up with crippling trauma. The characters are not good people. I think it's because there's something that resonates with me in terms of being so traumatized that you can no longer accept happiness. It's just all gone. _________________________________________ #fanvidfeed #viddingisart #crossovervid #gonewiththewind ► Watch in 1080p [HD] + headphones like & sub! _________________________________________ ▪ Fandom: Gone With The Wind ▪ Song: Youth by Daughter ▪ Program: Sony Vegas Pro 13 ▪ Coloring: ‪@LaurenMichellex‬ ________________________________________
