In 1951, only 387 people lived in Wasaga Beach. A few years later, five million visitors a year were showing up on its sand. This is the full rise and fall of Wasaga Beach, Ontario, the longest freshwater beach in the world. Fourteen kilometers of it, two hours north of Toronto. The sand there is packed hard enough to drive on, and for decades people did exactly that. It worked as a road. It worked as a racetrack. It even worked as a runway for a record-breaking flight to Britain. The video covers the amusement park that ran for half a century, the 1956 letter in which the town asked the province to take the beach away from it, the expropriations that erased hundreds of homes, and the Beach Drive fire in 2007 that took almost everything that was left. Then the strange final math: a town that bought back its own waterfront in 2015 and sold it off again ten years later. And it answers the question nobody local wants to explain. How the busiest beach in Ontario ended up with an empty gravel lot sitting in its exact center for seventeen straight summers. Real dates, real names, real numbers. Where the record stops, we say so. New documentary every week. Know a story we should cover? Put it in the comments. #WasagaBeach #Ontario #AbandonedParks #FallenAndForgotten
