Hi Guys, I hope you all doing great 👍 UK GOVERNMENT RECENTLY CHANGED SOME IMMIGRATION RULES Major changes to UK immigration rules are taking effect from July 22, 2025, as outlined in the Statement of Changes (HC 997). These changes primarily impact the Skilled Worker route, including skill and salary thresholds, and the end of overseas recruitment for care workers. There are also changes to Graduate visas and English language requirements. Here's a breakdown of the key changes: Skilled Worker Route: Increased Skill Level: The minimum skill level for sponsored jobs will rise from RQF Level 3 (A-level equivalent) to RQF Level 6 (bachelor's degree equivalent). Salary Thresholds: General salary thresholds for sponsorship will increase, with Option A rising to £41,700 per year. Temporary Shortage List: Below-degree-level (RQF 3-5) roles that are on the Immigration Salary List (ISL) or the new Temporary Shortage List (TSL) may still be eligible for sponsorship, but with restrictions, particularly regarding dependants. End of Overseas Care Worker Recruitment: Overseas recruitment for social care workers will end on July 22, 2025. Transitional Arrangements: Individuals with existing Skilled Worker visas or those with CoS issued before July 22 will generally be protected under the current rules. Other Changes: (Under review) Graduate Visa: The Graduate visa, which allows students to stay in the UK for 2-3 years after graduation, will be reduced to 18 months. English Language Requirements: English language requirements will become stricter for most visa types. Indefinite Leave to Remain: There are proposals to increase the qualifying period for indefinite leave to remain from 5 to 10 years, but this is subject to consultation and not taking effect immediately. Employer Considerations: Review Eligibility: Employers should review their current and future sponsorship plans to ensure compliance with the new rules. COS Before July 22: Where feasible, employers should issue Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) for new and renewing visa applications before July 22 to be assessed under the current rules. Communicate Clearly: Employers should clearly communicate to candidates about the restrictions associated with the Temporary Shortage List. In Summary: The July 2025 changes represent a significant tightening of the UK's immigration system, particularly for skilled workers and those in care occupations. Employers and individuals should familiarize themselves with the new rules and plan accordingly. I hope everything clear and understandable.
