Holy is His Name, sung by John Michael Talbot

"Holy Is His Name" is a song of worship by John Michael Talbot, from his 1981 album For the Bride. A singer-songwriter and guitarist known as "a troubadour for the Great King," Talbot has spent five decades setting prayer to music — drawing on Scripture, the Psalms, and the ancient canticles of the Church. His song takes its text from the Magnificat, Mary's hymn of praise in Luke 1:46–55, spoken as the Holy Spirit filled her at Elizabeth's home: "My soul magnifies the Lord... For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And holy is His name." (NKJV) Soft-spoken and unhurried, it is not a performance but a prayer — the virgin Mary's own words exalting the Father for His holiness, His mercy and His care for the lowly. It invites us to do what she did: magnify the Lord.
