ANY DAY NOW – TALKING ELVIS HALL OF FAME In this episode of Talking Elvis, I’m inducting “Any Day Now” into the Talking Elvis Hall of Fame. Recorded at American Sound Studio in Memphis during Elvis Presley’s extraordinary 1969 sessions, “Any Day Now” is one of those recordings that deserves far more attention than it often receives. In this video I take a closer look at the song itself, Elvis’s vocal performance, the musicians behind the recording, the arrangement, the overdubs, and the atmosphere of those legendary American Sound sessions. I also isolate parts of the recording so we can hear more clearly what was happening underneath Elvis’s lead vocal and appreciate just how beautifully constructed the track really is. For me, “Any Day Now” is a perfect example of Elvis at his late-1960s best — mature, controlled, soulful and completely committed to the song. That is why it earns its place in the Talking Elvis Hall of Fame.
