UNDUT LEGACY | THE PROMISE YOU LEFT BEHIND | OFFICIAL VIDEO

THE PROMISE YOU LEFT BEHIND is a modern English Metalcore song about broken promises, quiet disappointment, and the moment you stop waiting for someone who already walked away. Sometimes betrayal doesn't arrive with an argument. Sometimes it arrives as silence, unanswered words, and a promise that slowly proves itself empty. This song moves from trust and waiting into realization, letting go, and finally finding strength without the person who once promised to stay. LYRICS Verse You always had the perfect words to say So certain when the road was smooth and bright You promised you'd be standing by my side Funny how the promise vanished with the light I kept your words like something I could trust A shelter built from sentences and dust When everything around me came undone I learned how easy promises can run Pre-Chorus You never had to say goodbye Your silence did the job for you I guess disappearing counts as keeping your word Chorus You left your promise behind Right where you knew I'd find it A beautiful lie dressed up as forever You said I'd never face the dark alone How thoughtful of you to prove me wrong I guess you kept your promise after all Verse You spoke of loyalty like it was sacred You made forever sound so guaranteed Perhaps forever had a different meaning Or maybe it was never meant for me I waited longer than I should have Still believing you'd remember what you said But silence has a way of teaching lessons That empty words could never understand Pre-Chorus No need to explain yourself The absence said enough It's almost impressive how quietly you disappeared Chorus You left your promise behind Right where you knew I'd find it A beautiful lie dressed up as forever You said I'd never face the dark alone How thoughtful of you to prove me wrong I guess you kept your promise after all Bridge SO THIS IS FOREVER? A promise when it's easy A shadow when it's hard NO MORE! Keep your perfect words I'll keep what they taught me You walked away I learned the way Funny how losing you Finally gave me back myself Bridge I won't curse your name I won't chase your ghost Some lessons arrive Wearing the face we trusted most You gave me words I gave them meaning You gave me silence I found my reason Chorus You left your promise behind But I don't need to carry it That beautiful lie can stay where you left it You said I'd never face the dark alone And somehow you were right I found my way without you You left your promise behind I left the waiting with it Outro So thank you for the lesson It cost more than you ever knew Your promise is still there I'm just not waiting for it anymore
