Earthquake Base Isolation

Base isolation of buildings and other civil engineering structures to protect from devastating earthquakes. In the movie, two separate building models are placed on a shake table (that can move). The left side building model is conventional construction (without base isolation), whereas the right side building model is base-isolated building model. When the shake table is vibrated (similar to what happens during earthquakes), both the building models receive the same level of base excitation. However, objects placed in the base-isolated building model are safe, whereas that placed in conventional building model are unsafe and fails down.
