We begin our walk at Opernplatz, one of the most beautiful and recognizable squares in central Frankfurt. Here we can admire the elegant architecture, the fountains and the impressive Alte Oper, while also observing the everyday life around us. Visitors stop to take photos by the fountains and in front of the Alte Oper, while people passing through the square hurry to their everyday activities. These simple moments are part of the atmosphere of Frankfurt and make a city walk feel alive. From Opernplatz, we continue along Bockenheimer Landstrasse, a historic street that has connected Frankfurt with the former village of Bockenheim for centuries. The street was part of an important route leading west from Frankfurt, with the Bockenheimer Warte marking the former city limits and the historic route continuing towards Cologne. Today, Bockenheimer Landstrasse has a very different character.Along the street there are numerous business and office buildings, banks, cafés, restaurants, shops and markets, creating an interesting combination of working life, shopping and everyday urban activity. I especially enjoy watching along Bockenheimer Landstrasse in September. Despite ongoing construction work in parts of the street, it has a special seasonal atmosphere. The trees and surroundings are beginning to turm golden, while the still-warm September sunshine makes the walk particularly pleasant.
