Mojave Overland Adventure - Episode 3

In the third and final episode of our 2025 Mojave Overland Adventure we depart our second camp site on the playa near Soda Lake, approximately 100 miles from Las Vegas. We head into Baker, California to refuel and replenish our water and food resources. After refueling, we rejoin segment 2 of the East Mojave Heritage Trail, which leads us through a captivating volcanic area. This part of the trail takes us through a striking volcanic landscape with dark, rugged lava flows and towering cinder cones where we explore a small lava tube. As we cross through large Joshua Tree forests, we find abandon ranches and corrals. The trail leads us to the White Cross World War 1 Memorial. We then head east to visit the Evening Star Mine before searching for camp. The next morning our adventure takes us past the Ivanpah Solara Power Facility and the open pit Colosseum Mine before crossing through the North Mesquite Mountains Wilderness Area. We stop in for a visit at the China Ranch Date Farm before heading North to Beatty, Nevada. We spend the next morning exploring the fascinating Rhyolite Ghost Town.
