South Africa Weather for Today & Tomorrow Update Today’s weather across South Africa: A warm to hot afternoon across most regions, with the exception of the extreme southwest coast, where cooler conditions are forecast. Gusty winds are set to pick up over the Karoo, which could present challenges for high-sided vehicles and cause minor damage to temporary structures—prompting a Yellow Level 1 warning for the Karoo Hoogland in the Northern Cape Province and the Central Karoo in the Western Cape Province. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected over the interior, and after a hot day, very isolated thunderstorms may develop in the Eastern Cape Province and KwaZulu-Natal Province, with some storms possibly becoming severe, especially near the Wild Coast and southern KwaZulu-Natal Province. The South African Weather Service warns of extremely high fire danger in the central Northern Cape, northeastern Western Cape, northwestern Eastern Cape Province, and northern Limpopo Province, advising caution with open flames. Cloud bands and scattered showers in the central interior will bring some relief from the heat, but the eastern parts of the country will continue to swelter under hot, summery conditions.
