CORRECTED VERSION, posted October 2, 2026. This replaces our first upload of this interview. That version had distorted audio caused by an error in our own audio processing, and edits that cut some pauses and left others. This is the complete interview with clean audio and no edits inside the answers. Nothing the candidate said has been changed. Hardin Local sits down with Bryan "Cheese" Reesor, nonpartisan candidate for Elizabethtown City Council. This is part of our 2026 Hardin County Election Interview series. Every registered general-election candidate gets the same format: 7 standard opening questions, then 4-5 race-specific Elizabethtown City Council questions, in the same order, with the same time limits. No editorializing, just the candidate's own words. ABOUT BRYAN "CHEESE" REESOR Bryan (the nickname dates to 1993) was born and raised in Elizabethtown, where he still lives and is raising his own family. He said his business background, dealing daily with people, money, and tough decisions with real consequences, is what most prepares him for the council. His stated approach to the city's $125.8 million budget is to start with what the city's already committed to (police, fire, roads, utilities) before asking pointed questions about staffing, equipment, and long-term maintenance costs. On the city's 2% restaurant tax, he called the sports park and downtown investment a visible return but said the city should still track the data on whether it's bringing in visitors and local spending, and suggested the city look at simplifying the tax's monthly payment and reporting process for restaurant owners. He said his campaign is a mix of self-funding and donor support. QUESTIONS COVERED 1. What office are you running for, and why this office specifically? 2. What happened in your life that led you to run? 3. What in your background most prepares you for this seat? 4. If voters only remember one thing about why they should pick you, what is it? 5. What's the first concrete thing you'd do in office? 6. Is your campaign self-funded, donor-funded, or a mix? 7. Where should voters go to learn more? Plus race-specific questions for Elizabethtown City Council: online transparency for council and board records, priorities on the city's $125.8 million FY budget, balancing growth (E-town's mayor calls it the fastest-growing city in Kentucky) against uncertainty from this year's Blue Oval SK layoffs in Glendale, the 2% restaurant tax that funds tourism bonds, and quality-of-life investment like the Sports Park and downtown events. OUR APPROACH Hardin Local does not endorse candidates. Every candidate in a given race gets the same treatment: same questions, same time, same audience.
