The sticking patterns in this dance were inspired by Boss Morris's dance "Filberts" written by Laurel Swift, which in turn was inspired by sticking by Windsor Morris. The tune is taken from a song that Nancy Kerr researched / discovered - called "Lay by Your Reason" - which is a 17th-century ballad reflecting turbulent political times.
