Bud break at Monte Rosso Vineyard, 2020 Vintage

It’s that tiiiimmmmmmeee of the season! 🍇 Things are kicking off here at Monte Rosso and this is always an exciting time of the season because the vines are actually growing. Compared to 2018 and 2019, 2020 is actually about 2 weeks behind where we were it still overall early compared to our ten year ranch average. If you live in Northern California, this isn’t super surprising because it’s been a long summer preview with 80 degree weather. 🍇 Finding bud break back on February 18th was a little bit of a shock because I found it on it unpruned vines. That can be an issue because the vine is utilizing vital nutrients and resources on plant growth that we plan to remove. I’d like the focus that energy on the 2-3 buds on the spur position that I plan to keep for the growth we will maintain all year. 🍇 Since filming this video, everything but Petit Verdot has popped and there is finally rain forecasted 🙃🙃🙃... so here we go lol. 🍇 I hope you guys are enjoying this series!
