"Inoue Wants it Right Away!" Mike Coppinger EXPLAINS Naoya Inoue’s Plan For Bam Rodriguez! Mike Coppinger has revealed that Naoya Inoue wants the Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez superfight sooner rather than later. Inoue’s team has communicated that the fight needs to happen by March 2027, with Inoue unwilling to wait much longer before moving up to featherweight. Coppinger previously reported that Turki Alalshikh was targeting a major Japan event for the matchup, making this one of boxing’s biggest possible fights for early 2027. Bam is currently at bantamweight, while Inoue rules at 122 pounds, so Rodriguez would need to move up again for the fight. Robert Garcia has preferred giving Bam more time at 118, but Inoue has made his position clear: if the fight keeps getting delayed, he is prepared to move on and challenge at featherweight instead.
