A Day in My Life as an Ophthalmic Assistant in Rural Nepal 🇳🇵 #dailyvlog

Welcome to a little glimpse of my everyday life in beautiful rural Nepal! ❤️ My day started at 7:15 AM. After freshening up and getting ready, I headed to the eye centre for another day of work. I started my morning by checking emails and organizing the equipment and supplies we had brought back from the previous day’s eye camp. Since patient flow was a little slow in the beginning, I took some time to enjoy my coffee and a homemade Nepali lunch. Rice, mustard greens (rayo ko saag), dal, omelette, and my favourite dalle khursani! 🍚🌶️ Later, the clinic got busy, and we attended six patients consecutively. One of the most interesting cases of the day was Snow Blindness (Photokeratitis). The patient had recently gone trekking without wearing sunglasses, which resulted in UV-related damage to the cornea. This was a good reminder of how important eye protection is, especially when travelling or trekking in high-altitude areas. Always remember to carry proper UV-protective sunglasses when heading to the mountains! 🏔️🕶️ After a busy day at the eye centre, I enjoyed my afternoon coffee with some churpi and walnuts, spent some quality time playing with our furry friends, Tommy and Kale, and finally wrapped up my workday. But the day wasn’t over yet! In the evening, I joined my lovely didi and my friend Phurphu for a fun momo-making session. We made momos together, played some festive Tihar songs, danced, laughed, and enjoyed every moment. 🥟❤️ A simple day filled with work, learning, food, friendship, and little moments of happiness. This is a glimpse of my life as an Ophthalmic Assistant working in rural Nepal. Thank you for being part of my journey.
