Hebrews 10:19-25

Are you showing up to church but never truly belonging? There is a difference between attendance and real community, and Scripture has a lot to say about it. Drawing from Hebrews 10 and Galatians 6, this message explores what it actually means to be the church, not just attend it. Because of the blood of Jesus, we have full confidence to draw near to God and to one another. Our consciences have been sprinkled clean. We do not have to approach community with shame or hesitation. Jesus is our great high priest who sympathizes with us and walks beside us every step of the way. Hebrews 10 calls us to draw near, hold fast, and stir one another up to love and good works. These are not passive actions. They require intentionality, consistency, and genuine engagement with the people around us. You cannot stir someone up if you do not know what they are going through. You cannot encourage someone you have never truly engaged with. Galatians 6 takes it further. When someone in your community is struggling, the call is not to pull back. It is to restore gently and carefully. Bearing one another's burdens is not just another rule. It is the very pattern Christ modeled when He carried our sin so that we could carry each other. This message also addresses the tension between carrying others and maintaining personal responsibility. The Greek words used in Galatians 6 make an important distinction between a crushing burden and an everyday load. We are called to help carry what others cannot carry alone, while still answering for our own lives before God. The gospel is the foundation for all of it. Christ came to us when we could not go to Him. He softened our hearts, opened our eyes, and placed His Spirit within us so that we could be free to share what we have received, not just with words, but with actions. If you have been drifting from community because of past hurt, this message is for you. If you have been treating Sunday morning as the finish line instead of the starting point, this message is for you. The call is not to come to church.
