TRON: Deadly Discs (Mattel Electronics, 1981) was one of my favorite Intellivision games growing up. I always wanted to play it on Windows, so I rebuilt it as a native x86-64 Windows program. This video is the proof: a clean rebuild from scratch on camera, then the game running natively with an Xbox controller.
This isn't an emulator running a ROM. It's a static recompilation: every CP1610 instruction the game and the console's EXEC run (4,634 of them) was translated ahead of time into x86-64 assembly. A small C program models the console's video chip, sound chip, controllers and 60 Hz timing, with SDL3 for the window, audio and Xbox controller. No CPU emulator runs while you play.
How I did it (just starting off my website and will get domain name soon): https://my-web-app-wine-alpha.vercel....
I'm not a professional reverse engineer. But I enjoy doing reverse engineering on things I'm interested in. I started patching the game in 2024, built a Python prototype in 2025, and finished the port in 2026 with two AI coding agents, Claude Code and Codex, each building parts and reviewing the other's work.
Why there's no download: the game's code and graphics still belong to their owners, so I'm not sharing the ROM, the generated assembly, the source or the .exe. The repo stays private. The blog post explains how it all works without publishing any of that.
