Failed Cavity Wall Insulation to Full Home Retrofit in 2 Weeks! Warm Homes Local Grant Case Study

Ian's house in Hertfordshire had cavity wall insulation that was starting to fail, and the condensation and mould inside were the giveaway. Under the Warm Homes Local Grant, Pyramid Eco extracted the old insulation and refilled the cavity, then installed solar PV, a battery, loft insulation and ventilation, taking the property to a potential EPC A. Michael from Pyramid Eco explains why that combination of measures was chosen, why the job was sequenced trade by trade over just over two weeks rather than putting everyone on site at once, and what it takes to keep a young family on side while their home is being worked on. Then we meet Ian. He'd heard negative things about government grant work and went in sceptical. He talks about what the house is like now in winter and summer, what the solar and battery have done to his electricity bills, the one issue that came up with the cavity wall and how it was put right, and what he'd say to anyone else offered work under the scheme.
