Kızılcıklar Oldu Mu (Turkish Folk Song)

This performance was recorded on 22 September 2026 at Bavul Café as part of the FolkBerg Workshops. Every week, we learn a new song or tune together and record a performance. This time, we sang Kızılcıklar Oldu mu?, an anonymous Turkish folk song from the Edirne–Keşan / Rumeli tradition. The song is a 9/8 karşılama in the Uşşak makam and is part of the Turkish folk music repertoire. It was collected and notated by Nimet Çubukoğlu Oğuz and is registered in the TRT repertoire as number 1711. There are several regional variations of the song and its lyrics. For this workshop, we learned the vocals with Özüm Pamukçu and the darbuka part with Virginia Elif Fischer (Alev Percussion). Thanks to everyone who joined and sang and played with us!
