Bangalore Metro Latest Updates | Fare Hike | EXPLAINED | Namma Metro BMRCL | Metro Rails and Trains

In this video, I have explained the Bangalore Metro Fare Hike issue in detail. On February 9, Namma Metro's fares (Purple Line and Green Line's fares) were increased by 45%. In some stretches, however, the fares increased by almost 100% due to some abnormalities in Fare Calculation. After the intervention of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, the abnormal increases in fares were rectified on February 14. However, the fares are still far too high for daily commuters, students, college-goers, workers, and employees. A newly formed Bengaluru Metro Commuters' Association (BMCA) has staged protests against the unjust fare hike. Experts and political parties have also criticised the fare hike. In fact, even BMRCL cannot revise the fares again because the Fare Fixation Committee's (FFC) recommendations are binding on it. E. Sreedharan, popularly known as the "Metro Man of India," has provided suggestions for Namma Metro regarding its finances. BMRCL is working towards increasing its non-fare revenue by advertisements, retail spaces, and semi-naming rights. BMRCL has also confirmed that the same fares would be used even when Bangalore Metro Phase 2, Phase 2A and Phase 2B are operational (Yellow Line, Pink Line and Blue Line).
