A Slow Day in Zhujiajiao, Shanghai, China🇨🇳Canals, Tanghulu, and Evening Lights

Water reflects old houses. Willow brushes the canal. I walk slowly over old bridges, past small shops, and through streets that smell like everyday life. I buy a tanghulu — fresh hawthorn on a stick, coated in crunchy sugar. Sweet on the outside, a little sour inside. You can almost hear the sugar crack. Most of this day is natural sound: water, footsteps, and the town itself. I only speak in the key moments, in English, so you can feel the day with me. When evening comes, the lights come on, and the whole town glows on the water. That is my favourite moment. This is not a tour. This is a real, slow day in Zhujiajiao, Shanghai — my real life in China, shared with friends around the world.
