Election Commission Controversy: 14 Objections in 10 Months | Gyanesh Kumar Under Pressure? | SIR Ro A major controversy has emerged around the Election Commission of India and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. A report by The Indian Express says that Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi formally raised objections at least 14 times over the past 10 months regarding several decisions and processes related to electoral rolls, Form 6, voter data and the EC’s IT systems. The report also highlights concerns over the centralisation of electoral-roll data and decisions concerning voter registration and deletion. The Election Commission, however, has said that differing views are part of the decision-making process and that decisions taken during the period were unanimous. Meanwhile, political groups have raised demands concerning Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, including calls for his resignation/removal. In this video, we explain the Indian Express report, the 14 objections, the SIR controversy, the Election Commission's response, and the political reactions.
