Theme: Soli Deo Gloria | To God Alone Be All the Glory Anchor Text: Isaiah 42:8 says: “I am the Lord: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.” Point One | Who is God? • The Almighty God is not a man. He is Spirit. John 4:24 says: “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” • The Almighty God is the God of all flesh and impossibilities. Jeremiah 33:27 says: “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?” • The Almighty God is the King over all. Psalm 47:2: "For the LORD most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth." Psalm 47:7: "For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding." • The Almighty God is the Father of the faithful. Ephesians 4:4-6: “There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.” • The Almighty God is the Judge of the earth. Psalm 75:7: "But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another." Psalm 7:11: "God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day." Isaiah 33:22: "For the Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king; he will save us." Hebrews 12:23: "To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect." Point One | Reasons We Give God Alone All the Glory There are several reasons that man should give glory unto God, but for this gathering we shall focus on the selected: 1. Psalm 19:1: "The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork." We need to give God alone all the glory because of His creations which are His handywork. 2. Psalm 115:1: "Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth's sake." We need to give God alone all the glory because of His continuous mercy upon us and the land, as well as His truth that we have through His Word. 3. Luke 2:14: "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." We need to give God alone all the glory because of His peace through the gift of His Son unto the world, and His good will of salvation towards men and the land. 4. 1 Chronicles 16:29: "Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness." We need to give God alone all the glory for His hallowed Name and beautiful, great nature. 5. 1 Corinthians 10:31: "Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." We need to give alone all the glory for His provision for us and the ability to given us to experience diverse situations as men. 6. Romans 6:24: "To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen." We need to give God alone all the glory because of His great and matchless wisdom. 7. Jude 1:25: "To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen." We need to give God alone all the glory because He is our Saviour, and because of His everlasting glory, majesty, dominion and power. Point Three | Who and How Can We Give God Alone All the Glory 1. All flesh is expected to give God all the glory. Jeremiah 33:27 says: “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me?” 2. All nations are expected to give God alone all the glory. Psalm 117:1: "O praise the Lord, all ye nations: praise him, all ye people." Psalm 86:9: "All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee, O Lord; and shall glorify thy name." Psalm 67:3: "Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee." 3. By surrendering our hearts unto Him. Proverbs 23:26 says: “My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.” 4. By worshipping Him. 1 Chronicles 16:29: "Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come before him: worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness." 5. By living in daily obedience. 1 Samuel 15:22 says: “And Samuel said, “Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.”
