In this DROPS video we show you one of the most common ways to cast on stitches. This cast on method is elastic and therefore useful for, among other things, knitted socks. It’s known by many names like German twisted cast on, Old Norwegian cast on, elastic long tail cast on, twisted knit half-hitch cast on. BEFORE THE VIDEO STARTS: Pull out the strand from the ball and make a starting loop further along the strand (you’ll need about 40-80 cm to cast on 20 stitches, depending on the yarn and needle size). Place the starting loop on the right needle and tighten it gently. You’ll have 2 strands coming from the loop: A= the strand from the ball and B = the strand end. THE VIDEO SHOWS: All the stitches being cast on. INFO TO THE VIDEO: This video has NO SOUND. The yarn used in this video is DROPS Snow (100% wool).
