Mi Teresita "Little Waltz" (Arr. for Violin and Orchestra by Jan-Peter Klöpfel) (Official Video)

„Teresa Carreño was called ‘The Lioness of the piano’ and was the greatest pianist virtuoso of her time. She was rather humorously described as a musician with ‘a male head, male fingers and a female heart’. Born in Venezuela, she was truly what we would call a child prodigy. At nine years old she was invited to the US to perform for President Lincoln at the White House! She was admired by Liszt, Brahms, Rubinstein. She lived a whirlwind life, married four times, and was always on the road for her incredible performing career. However, despite her huge fame as a performer, her compositions were overlooked and forgotten, likely because she was a woman from South America. ‘Mi Teresita’, a waltz inspired by Venezuelan rhythms, was written for her daughter.”
