ഇന്ത്യയും ബെല്‍ജിയവും തമ്മിലുള്ള പ്രതിരോധ സഹകരണത്തില്‍ പുതിയ അധ്യായത്തിന് തുടക്കമായി. ഡല്‍ഹിയില്‍ നടന്ന ഉന്നതതല ചര്‍ച്ചകള്‍ക്കിടെ, പാകിസ്ഥാനുമായി അതീവസൂക്ഷ്മമായ പ്രതിരോധ സാങ്കേതികവിദ്യ പങ്കിടില്ലെന്ന് ബെല്‍ജിയം ഇന്ത്യയ്ക്ക് ഉറപ്പ് നല്‍കിയതായി റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട്. ഇതോടൊപ്പം പ്രതിരോധ മേഖലയില്‍ സഹകരണം ശക്തിപ്പെടുത്തുന്നതിനായി ഇരുരാജ്യങ്ങളും നിരവധി കരാറുകളിലും ധാരണാപത്രങ്ങളിലും ഒപ്പുവെച്ചു. ബെല്‍ജിയന്‍ പ്രതിരോധ മന്ത്രി തിയോ ഫ്രാങ്കനാണ് ഇന്ത്യയ്ക്ക് ഈ ഉറപ്പ് നല്‍കിയതെന്നാണ് റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ട്. ബെല്‍ജിയന്‍ പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി ബാര്‍ട്ട് ഡി വെവറിന്റെ ഇന്ത്യാ സന്ദര്‍ശനത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായാണ് ഫ്രാങ്കനും ഇന്ത്യയിലെത്തിയത്. വ്യാഴാഴ്ച പ്രതിരോധ മന്ത്രി രാജ്നാഥ് സിങ്ങുമായി നടത്തിയ കൂടിക്കാഴ്ചയില്‍ പ്രതിരോധ സഹകരണത്തിനൊപ്പം ഇന്ത്യയുടെ സുരക്ഷാ ആശങ്കകളും ചര്‍ച്ചയായി. പാകിസ്ഥാനിലേക്ക് അതീവസൂക്ഷ്മമായ പ്രതിരോധ സാങ്കേതികവിദ്യ കൈമാറുമ്പോള്‍ ഇന്ത്യയുടെ സുരക്ഷാ താല്‍പര്യങ്ങള്‍ കണക്കിലെടുക്കണമെന്ന് രാജ്നാഥ് സിങ് ബെല്‍ജിയന്‍ മന്ത്രിയോട് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടതായി റിപ്പോര്‍ട്ടുകള്‍ പറയുന്നു. India and Belgium are opening a new chapter in defence cooperation, with major developments emerging from high-level talks in New Delhi. Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held talks with Belgian Defence and Foreign Trade Minister Theo Francken, with discussions covering defence cooperation, industrial partnerships, regional security and maritime security. The two sides agreed to expand their defence relationship through structured dialogue, high-level visits, training and capacity building. One of the biggest talking points is Belgium's reported assurance to India regarding sensitive defence technology and Pakistan.
