In this painting I wanted the sky to carry much of the emotion — cool blues, violets and greys weighing against the last warm glow along the horizon. A distant grain elevator and passing train are kept small and quiet, while loose brushwork and flowing pigment build the rough prairie foreground. This is as much about enjoying watercolor as controlling it.
