"A Friend Like Me" - Edith K. Bergtraum School

2022 Queens Borough Arts Festival Performing Arts Teacher: Kerrianne Cody Principal: Tiffany Davis-Nealy Student Performers: Jammy Chen Tiffany Chen Truman Cornell Mariam Eltabakh Antony Li Alexander Lu Jahnavi Mishra Kamila Mosquera Gloria Ryu Thomas Suarez Catherine Wang Carlson Zhang Stacy Zheng Jeyson Zhu Li The PS 165 Edith K Bergtraum School strives to engage every student in expressive arts-making. Through dance, students make cultural connections, reflect and revise choreography, and develop technical skills for performance. Fifth graders worked collaboratively with Ms. Cody to create "A Friend Like Me." This tap piece was selected as students learned a short combination then utilized the basic foot actions to create their own tap phrases which we integrated in a choreographic structure. Students became teachers charting out their steps and teaching the class building self confidence and skills in collaboration.
