We're taking our campervan to France for the first time, heading from the UK to Brittany for a brand new European adventure. But first, we have to decide: ferry or Channel Tunnel? Join us as Teddy, our campervan, heads across the Channel for the very first time as we begin our France campervan adventure. We travel from the UK to Brittany on an overnight ferry from Portsmouth to Saint Malo, sharing what it's really like to take a campervan to France for the first time. Before we cross the Channel, we make a final stop at Port Solent, in Portsmouth, to get some last-minute jobs done on Teddy, refuel, grab some food and prepare for our first ever European campervan trip. We also share some of the practical things we had to organise before taking a UK campervan to France, including the Crit'Air sticker, headlight deflectors and changing Teddy's speedometer from miles per hour to kilometres per hour. Here's the official French Government website for your Crit'Air sticker: https://www.certificat-air.gouv.fr/ and here's a link for the headlight beam deflectors: https://link.amazon/B051cKnlq Then it's time to board the ferry and experience an overnight crossing from Portsmouth to St Malo. We explore the ship, find our cabin, watch England disappear behind us and discover what it's like to sleep on a ferry before waking up in France. But the big question is whether taking the ferry was the right choice. We compare our ferry experience with the alternative of using the Channel Tunnel, looking at the costs, driving distance, time and convenience for a campervan trip from the UK to France. We also consider the advantages of arriving in Brittany after a night's sleep rather than immediately facing a long drive after crossing the Channel. Is Brittany Ferries the right choice? If you're planning your first campervan trip to France, a motorhome holiday in Brittany, or your first European road trip from the UK, this video shares our experience of the journey and some of the practical things worth considering before you set off.
