Leaving the Gothic spires of Burgos behind, we officially step out onto the legendary, sun-drenched plains of the Meseta for the very first time! Known for its endless skies, vast solitude, and mental test of endurance, this stretch gave us beaut.and threw some serious curveballs our way. Burgos to Hontanas: Leaving the city behind for wide-open grain fields, descending into the hidden oasis village of Hontanas. Hontanas to Boadilla del Camino: Passing through the iconic arched ruins of the Convent of San Antón before hitting the flat, open trail into Boadilla. Boadilla del Camino to Carrión de los Condes: Walking alongside the Canal de Castilla toward Frómista, through Villalcázar de Sirga, and into historic Carrión de los Condes. Along the way, the Meseta tested us in ways we never expected: surviving a sudden, terrifying bee swarm out in the open and battling through an unexpected, debilitating migraine. With a little grit, teamwork, and Camino magic we kept moving.
