Don’t Visit Burra Without This! Heritage Passport - Must See Historic Sites (Express Edition)

Burra is a historic mining town located in mid-north South Australia, it has an impressive collection of historic buildings that date from the mid 1800's. The town was formed in 1845 when a huge Copper deposit was found, for a number of years the Burra Burra mine would be the largest in Australia. The best way to see the town is with the Burra Heritage Passport, a self guided tour including a key to unlock 11 historical sites across Burra. Starting at the Burra & Goyder Visitor Information Centre, the tour is $30 and includes a map and booklet with the history of each site. A $50 deposit is required for each key and it's recommended as a 4 hour or full day activity. On this occasion I was strapped for time, squeezing in the top 5 sites in just over an hour-twenty.
