Turns Out Traction Helps | Hard Enduro Redemption

After last week's disaster, I really needed a good ride. Last time out, just about everything went wrong — zero traction, failed hill climbs, a massive crash that sheared off a footpeg, another dent in the pipe, and a bike that was smoking considerably more than it should have been. So I made a few changes before heading back out. New pegs replaced the one I destroyed, I changed the wheel and tire setup to hopefully get some traction back, and I swapped the pipe and replaced the failing crank seal. Then we headed back to one of the nastier properties we ride — a place that apparently grows rocks instead of trees. Four of us started the day, with one rider calling it around the halfway point. The weather was nearly perfect, the bike was working considerably better, and most importantly, I was riding considerably better. We covered more than 20 miles of rocky hard enduro and technical singletrack, and somewhere in the middle of all this, we apparently picked up a fifth member of the group. A random dog appeared on the trail and decided to follow us for a while before eventually disappearing back into the woods as mysteriously as he arrived. New parts. Better traction. Less smoke. New obstacles. Random trail dog. After last week, I'll take it.
