How long does it actually take to build a $100,000 investment portfolio if you invest $250 every single week?
In this video, I break down the math behind my journey from $0 to $100K and show how consistent investing and compound growth could change the timeline.
💰 $250 per week
📅 $13,000 invested per year
🎯 Goal: $100,000
We’ll compare three hypothetical scenarios:
🔴 No investment growth: about 7.7 years
🔵 8% annual return: about 5.7 years
🟢 10% annual return: about 5.3 years
These return scenarios are hypothetical—not predictions. Actual market returns will vary.
We’ll also look at why the journey changes as the portfolio grows. At the beginning, your contributions are doing almost all of the heavy lifting. But as the balance reaches $10K, $25K, $50K and eventually $100K, percentage gains and compounding can become increasingly meaningful compared with a $250 weekly contribution.
On Building Wealth Weekly, I’m actually putting this strategy into practice by investing at least $250 every week and documenting the journey toward $100,000.
My current four-ETF framework is approximately:
• SCHD — 40% — Core Dividend Growth
• HDV — 20% — Dividend Income
• SCHG — 20% — Growth
• VXUS — 20% — International Diversification
The plan is simple: keep contributing, reinvest dividends, stay consistent, and give compounding time to work.
The first $100K isn't going to happen overnight. That's exactly why I'm documenting the entire journey.
Next milestones:
$2,500 → $5,000 → $10,000 → $25,000 → $50,000 → $100,000

One contribution at a time.
And one dividend at a time.
