Plastic piece (protector disk) inside goes on top of laundry. If the motor locking part didn't come out when unpacking, make sure to remove that. Too early for a true review...stay tuned. Good first impression, though. Hoping this will save some on electricity/time in dryer or hang drying. 2nd day update... actually measured the water removed by the spinner from a full load in our Maytag top load washer...2 LITERS!!
