"I prefer the opening to start slightly slower than marked with a little more freedom to push and pull time slightly. The huge challenge with the Largo is managing flexibility and endurance throughout a fairly demanding range for a junior level. The opening requires shaping while ascending and leaning somewhat on the appoggiaturas. The octave slurs to high G are daunting for juniors. If you struggle with consistency on them, a slight legato articulation can help make the octaves more secure. The presto should be practiced with a metronome. It is very hard to keep the time steady throughout the rapid passages and wide dynamic ranges." Scott Herman, trumpet
