-- RE-UPLOAD! -- In September, I had the opportunity to visit Bhaktivedanta Manor for one of the biggest events in the Hare Krishna calendar. Sri Krishna Janmashtami, the celebration of the appearance of Lord Krishna. This year, the festival took place over two main public days, Friday the 4th and Sunday the 6th of September, with thousands of people coming to the Manor to take part in the celebrations. The weekend was much more than just a religious ceremony. There was a huge programme of kirtan, bhajans, music, dance, drama, talks and cultural performances, as well as opportunities to take darshan of Sri Sri Radha Gokulananda, enjoy prasadam and spend time with the wider devotee community. Saturday was a little different. The main festival site was closed to the general public, while the Manor marked Srila Prabhupada Vyasa-Puja, honouring Srila Prabhupada, the founder-acharya of ISKCON. I attended on the final day, Sunday the 6th, when the celebrations continued with performances throughout the day. There was traditional Indian dance, Bhagavad Gita recitation, tabla, bhajans, kirtan, spiritual talks and drama, including Jaya Prabhupada to the West. The evening continued with more music, performances, spiritual talks and kirtan before the programme came to an end. So in this video, I’ll take you along with me for a glimpse of the final day of Janmashtami at Bhaktivedanta Manor. The atmosphere, the people, the music and some of the activities taking place throughout this very special celebration. #BhaktivedantaManor #Janmashtami #KrishnaJanmashtami #HareKrishna #ISKCON #Kirtan
