Come with me on a slow walk through Cumalıkızık (Cumalikizik), a historic Ottoman village in Bursa, Türkiye. Often described as about 700 years old, this village still has its cobblestone streets, wooden-framed stone and adobe houses, and everyday village life. It was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2014 as part of "Bursa and Cumalıkızık: the Birth of the Ottoman Empire." About Cumalıkızık Cumalıkızık sits at the foot of Mount Uludağ, about 10 km from the center of Bursa. It is one of several "Kızık" villages founded in the early Ottoman period and is one of the best-preserved examples of an Ottoman village in Türkiye. Many of its historic houses are two or three stories, with overhanging upper floors and narrow, winding streets. Today the village is known for its traditional village breakfasts, small shops selling local products, and its quiet, old-world atmosphere.
