In 1991, inside Mountain Studios in Montreux, Freddie Mercury tried to record the final verse of "Mother Love," a song he had written with Brian May weeks earlier. His health, weakened by AIDS, would not let him finish it. He asked for a stool. He tried the line twice. Then he stopped. Brian May did not shelve the song. He stepped into the same booth and sang the final verse himself, in a voice close enough to blend with his friend's that most listeners never noticed the seam. It would turn out to be the last vocal performance Freddie Mercury ever recorded. The song would not reach the public for four more years. Watch until the end to discover how two voices became one on a track that reached number one, four years after it was recorded.
