Fes Morocco 1994

Digitized slides that I took on a week-long visit around Morocco in 1994. Fes (Fez in English) was my favorite. A very mysterious city of three sections -- Fes el Bali, old Fes, which was founded in the 9th century and had running water in the houses that century.; Fes J'Did, which is from something like the 13th city, and New Fes, a largely French-built city of the early 20th century. These pictures are of the old Fes, which has very few automobiles and is full of very narrow, hilly streets with many steps. It is an amazing place. At the end of this slide show, i headed out into the great dunes of the Sahara.
