600 Years Old City | Kandy to Nuwara Eliya | EP. 02

In this episode, we travel from the coastal town of Negombo into the heart of Sri Lanka, experiencing just how quickly the landscapes of this beautiful island can change. Our journey begins with a stop at the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, where we get to see Sri Lanka’s elephants up close, before continuing towards Kandy, the cultural heart and soul of Sri Lanka. Surrounded by lush green hills, Kandy is a city filled with history, culture and tradition. We explore the iconic Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, walk around the beautiful Kandy Lake, and experience some of the sights that make this city so special. But the biggest adventure begins after leaving Kandy. We had planned to drive to Nuwara Eliya while there was still daylight, hoping to enjoy the incredible mountain scenery along the way. Things didn’t quite go according to plan, and by the time we left Kandy, darkness had already fallen. What followed was an unforgettable drive through winding, remote mountain roads in complete darkness, with only our headlights showing us the road ahead. Eventually, we arrive in the cold Sri Lankan highlands of Nuwara Eliya, where our long journey ends at a beautiful cottage-style hotel overlooking Gregory Lake.
