Getting Started with Options | Cameron May | 8-25-26 Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options. https://bit.ly/2v9tH6D In this episode of the Getting Started with Options series, we’ll walk through an example three-step process that traders might use when choosing among the many bullish, bearish, and neutral option strategies available. We’ll begin with three important questions: What is the market outlook for the intended time frame? Are volatility levels relatively low and rising or high and falling—in other words, is the current environment more favorable to option buyers or option sellers? And does the trader prefer a lower-probability strategy with greater reward potential, or a higher-probability strategy with less aggressive reward potential? Using an example set of charts, we’ll discuss how a trader might approach answering each of these questions and use the information to narrow the field of possible strategies. Finally, we’ll select an example options strategy that appears to fit current market conditions and the trader’s preferences, then we'll place an example paperMoney trade for the selected strategy. As always, this presentation is for educational purposes only. Market conditions can change, and no options strategy is guaranteed to be successful or appropriate for every trader. Each of these weekly webcasts is carefully structured to help new option traders along the leverage learning curve. Your education coach will introduce you to options terminology, clarify the common opportunities and risks, and explain the associated rights and obligations to help you become more confident with your understanding of options trading. If you have any questions, please put them in the comments below. Options carry a high level of risk and are not suitable for all investors. Certain requirements must be met to trade options through Schwab. Please read the Options Disclosure Document titled "Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options" before considering any option transaction.
