These backpack-friendly breakfast recipes are ones you can make entirely at home and enjoy on the trail with no prep, no camp stove and no gas station granola bar. I'm Shelby, a PNW local who's been hiking for over 20 years, and all three recipes are built on Bob's Red Mill Protein Oats, a naturally higher-protein oat with no protein powder. The three recipes: Oatmeal raisin energy balls with protein oats, chia seeds, peanut butter, maple syrup, raisins, cinnamon and vanilla. A big batch you can eat while walking, about 374 calories and 14 grams of protein per three-ball serving. Bob's Red Mill Blueberries & Cream overnight protein oats with 2% milk, about 90 seconds of prep, warmed in the microwave and topped with fresh blueberries. About 311 calories and 13 grams of protein. Hot thermos oats with protein oats, chia seeds, Justin's maple almond butter, cinnamon, banana and boiling water, ready in 30 to 45 minutes with no stove. About 486 calories and 18 grams of protein. I also show how I pack everything in my Zojirushi thermos, how to test any thermos for insulation and leaks, how everything held up at the trailhead, and which recipe fits your hike. 0:00 Welcome to All Outdoors Guide 0:41 Why I use Bob's Red Mill Protein Oats 1:35 The thermos I pack breakfast in 2:38 Recipe 1: Oatmeal raisin energy balls 5:12 Recipe 2: Overnight protein oats 6:06 Recipe 3: Hot thermos oats 8:51 Packing it all for the trail 9:34 Trail test at the trailhead 11:39 Which recipe is best for you 13:20 Calories and protein per serving #HikingFood #TrailFood #BackpackingFood #HikingBreakfast #OvernightOats #EnergyBalls #AllOutdoorsGuide
