My September Movie Catch-Up: Almost 25 First-Time Watches - September 2026

September was a month of cinematic discoveries, questionable decisions, festival favorites, and a few films that have been sitting on my watchlist for far too long. For this month's FIRST TIME WATCHES, we're breaking down the movies I experienced for the very first time throughout September 2026, ranging from Sidney Lumet's courtroom classic The Verdict to the crime comedy Buffaloed, alongside a collection of films from Fantastic Fest 2026. We'll also be getting into the latest cinematic takes on Resident Evil and Primetime, discussing the movies that surprised me, the ones that left me scratching my head, and everything in between. As always, this isn't just a list of ratings. It's an opportunity to talk about filmmaking, storytelling, performances, unexpected discoveries, and whether some of these movies deserve their reputations in the first place. Whether you're here for the classics, the horror, the festival discoveries, or simply to watch me defend some questionable cinematic decisions, there's plenty to get into. What have YOU watched for the first time this month?
