How This One Tool Company Is Squeezing Its Customers

How This One Tool Company Is Squeezing Its Customers Milwaukee Tool built a cordless platform that splits into two completely incompatible battery systems — and most buyers don't find out until they're already locked in. In this video, I break down how Milwaukee's M12 and M18 ecosystems are marketed as one unified system but run on physically different batteries that cannot cross platforms, what Milwaukee's own documentation says about compatibility, and how a workshop that starts with a $219 ratchet kit can quietly balloon past $1,100 — with over $500 of that total locked inside battery packs that carry zero value outside the Milwaukee ecosystem. I also dig into PACKOUT storage, the ONE-KEY app platform, and the role of Milwaukee's parent company TTI in the broader picture. If you own Milwaukee tools, are considering your first cordless kit, or just want to understand how a platform strategy quietly shapes the real cost of every tool you add, this one's for you.
